Rhum + Clay are looking for a dynamic and experienced producer to come on board as Executive Producer for their next mid-scale show 'Technicolor'.

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced producer to join the Rhum + Clay production Technicolor. Having created and toured new work for the past 12 years, we have cultivated a reputation for creative excellence both in the UK and internationally, and Technicolor is our most ambitious work yet. You will be working with the two artistic directors, Julian Spooner and Matthew Wells, to come on board initially at pre-production stage for Technicolor, before moving on to delivery of production, a nationwide UK tour, and to oversee future international touring opportunities.


2026 will see the company embark on its first international Co-Production with the National theatre of Parramatta in Australia. Conjuring the netherworld between past and present; Technicolor will rekindle the grubby 'golden age' of 1950s Hollywood. This hallucinatory exploration of the deification of celebrity will investigate what might have happened on James Dean's last film. Due to premiere in the UK in Spring 2026, before touring to Australia & USA.

Specifics of the role outlined below.

Stage 1: Pre- production phase of Technicolor. January/ February 2025. 20 days in total

X Writing of an Arts Council application grant amounting to at least £75K X Secure co-producing partners and pencil nationwide UK midscale tour X Contract associates & creatives X Draw up production budget & cash flow Fee: £3500 (20 days at £175 per day)

Stage 2: Production phase of Technicolor, September 2025- June 2026

*Upon completion of Stage 1 & with funding secured stage 2 will be negotiated in good faith.

Job Requirements

Candidate profile

Essential criteria

Minimum 5 years producing experience

Must have succeeded in winning grants from Arts Council England totally over £30K, ideally in the £75-100K mark

Experience producing at least one midscale regional UK tour

Confident fundraiser and grant writer

Confident managing budgets and ensuring controlling costs on productions

Experience of contracting creatives, actors

Excellent communication skills

Experience working collaboratively within a team

Desirable criteria

Experience in international co-productions/touring

Knowledge of trust and foundations fundraising

Knowledge of the Arts Council: Let's Create strategy

Interest in devised work

Strategic thinking

Job Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Delivery of pre-production of Technicolor

Lead on the writing of an Arts Council application (Application will be over £30K, most likely totally between £75-100K) for the UK regional tour of Technicolor

Act as main point of contact & pencil a full regional UK midscale tour for the Spring of 2026

Draw up a production budget for the tour in Spring 2026

Secure co-producers to support the tour, and negotiate relevant contracts

Work alongside the ADs to find and approach artistic and production associates, and make first approach

Work closely and collaboratively with co-producers

Breakdown of duties: 10 days on Arts Council bid writing, 7 days on penciling and securing tour, 3 days on contracting associates
